The games on this page will change according to the Adventure of the month as well as introduce aditional fun games with no relation to the theme...Enjoy!

Land/Sea

Note to teacher/Parent: prepare a line or a circle (a large round carpet for class rooms is perfect).

One side of the line is the land and one side is the sea. Call out “Land” The kids need to jump into the land. Then call out “Sea” and they jump on to the sea. Slowly raise the difficulty of this game and call out longer instructions depending on age and ability such as: “land , land, sea, land…”

Have the children call out Land and Sea too.

Crab Tag:

Choose a player to be “It”. Explain that “It” will begin the game running. As soon as he tags another player, both of them will turn into crabs and try to tag the other players. Anyone who is tagged changes into a crab and can also tag the others. Who will manage to remain standing? (Players can only be tagged if they are touched with the hand. No kicking crabs are allowed).

Driver Says:
Note to the parents/teacher: prepare chairs in 2 rows like in a bus with one chair in front.
Let the kids find their spot in the "bus", and be a driver yourself, in the single chair.
Play "driver said" ( Just like Simon says.)
Suggestions:
Put your hands on your head, shoulders etc.
Turn to the right, left.
Look backwards etc.
Bounce your knees.
Stomp your feet.
Try to give each child a chance to be the driver.

This game can be adjusted to any theme or adventure. It can also be used to practice various yoga poses: "Simon says do the Dolphin or the Sea Horse etc.."

Freeze and release tag – Choose a player to be “it”. It needs to tag other players. Anyone who is tagged has to freeze in place until another player releases him in a certain motion which is agreed to before, like put your hand on the head of the tagged player and skip around them. Or, touch the tagged players elbows, knees and elbows again. After 2 minutes stop the game and count how many players are frozen. Then change the release motion and choose another player to be “it”.

Musical chairs versions – lay out newspapers, small carpets, hoola hoops instead of chairs according to the theme of the class.

Change the way the players walk around the items. For instance, move around while duck walking, dinosaur walking, swimming etc…

Small seed/ Big pumpkin:
This game is perfectly fit for young children but good for older ones too.
Tell the children to become as small and round as a tiny seed; bring themselves into the posture and become as small as they can, and when you call out “Big” jump onto their feet open their legs wide, open their arms wide to the sides, blow their cheeks and become a great huge pumpkin!. Change the time between the postures to add more fun to this game. Have the children call out Big and Small too.

Seed Game:
Find the pumpkin seeds: make pretend seeds with the children you can take some old pieces of newspapers and squish and crumple them into a tiny seed shape, make about 10-20 “seeds”, depending on the age and number of children you are playing with. Count them with the children and then ask them to close their eyes while you are hiding the “seeds” around the room. Then ask them to open their eyes, look for the seeds. When someone finds a seed they must stand in a yoga posture and freeze until the teacher comes by with the basket. The child can then be released, put the seed back to the basket and continue looking. When they think they found them all count the seeds loudly with them, it is reasonable to assume that they won't find them all in one turn so they will be released to seek again.
