Music
We believe in a fun and energetic Yoga class, especially for younger children. Greg and Steve have produced great creative movement CDs. Any class room will love their material as well as kids at home. Our favorite Greg and Steve “Yoga” CD is “Kids in Motion”. We have used most of the titles for our classes but the most recommended are: “Kids in motion”, Body Rock”, “Animal Action I+II”, “The Freeze”, “Bean Bag Boogie”, “Body Talk”, ”Show me what you feel”
Laurie Berkner- “Victor Vito”
Laurie Berkner's third album and the winner of five awards including “best recording for toddlers” is a great album that kids love and parents join in happily. We recommend this album as a family favorite and for yoga the very best are: Boot – a song about all kinds of boots that will make you jump like a frog, play in puddles and dance. No doubt that you will remember how to spell “boots” even if you are no older then two. The crabs – another great song that will take you to different heights; low like a crab or high like a balloon and in the middle like a happy dancing child. The goldfish– goes well with the Ocean Adventure as a silly fish song, listen to the words and dance with it.
Enya, “Watermark”
This is by far the best meditation music we've heard. Just go hear song #3, “On your shore”, on the Amazon link below and we know you will agree.
Introducing your children to various types of music as opposed to only “Children's music” will expand their horizons and teach them to appreciate various types of art in general. There is no real ”Yoga Connection” to these albums but they are highly recommended as great family albums that both you and your children can enjoy and possibly teach them to listen to your music sometimes as well…
"For our Children" offers a good variety of music types with musicians such as Paul McCartney, Ziggy Marley, Elton John, Bruce Springsteen and much more. In addition to the musical value, its proceeds benefit children with Aids. You can listen to the tracks on Amazon.
Skip Ewing's “Indian Elephant Tea” is clearly an album meant to be enjoyed by the whole family with its creative reworking of these classic songs, in a new fun hilarious twist. A high energy musical that will make you all, kids and adults, dance, tap and laugh. Ewing creates jazzy, bluesy and country influenced songs.

Books
From Head to Toe by Eric Carle.
This is a great beginner's warm up book for beginning teachers and students. It introduces all the basic yoga exercises, the connection between yoga and animals as well as yoga and stories.
In the tall tall grass, by Denise Fleming.
Give your kids a lesson about scale with this wonderful story. With a little help of our imagination your kids will understand what it's like to be a tiny insect in the “Tall” grass. This story will surely give them a new perspective on things.
We will soon be posting our Yoga Adventure based on this book!
Guess how much I love you by SamMcbratney
A story about Little Nutbrown Hare trying to prove how much he loves Big Nutbrown Hare. Searching for words to tell his dad how much he loves him (and to put off bedtime just a teensy bit longer), Little Nutbrown Hare comes up with one example after another ("I love you as high as I can hop!"), only to have Big Nutbrown Hare continually up the ante. Finally, on the edge of sleep, he comes up with a showstopper: "I love you right up to the moon." (Dad does top this declaration too, but only after his little bunny falls asleep.) This classic combines love and sleep time with jumping and stretching.
Room on the broom by Julia Donaldson A fun “Fall or Halloween Adventure” with some good friendship messages.
My many colored days by Dr. Seuss
Using a spectrum of vibrant colors and animals, this unique book shows a range of human moods and emotions.
Here is a wonderful way for parents/teachers to talk with children about their feelings. Most colors are also associated with an animal. Red is a horse kicking up its heels. Brown is a bear, "slow and low." On a yellow day, "I am a busy, buzzy bee." On a green day, he's a "cool and quiet fish." On a happy pink day, he's a flamingo! On black days, he becomes a howling wolf. He even has mixed-up days, when he is several colors at once. The paintings in the book are remarkable for the simple but identification they do to the children. One way you can use this book is to ask your child what color he or she is today. You can also communicate your color, as well. You can each learn more about how to change one another's not-so-attractive colors in this way, or to help sustain desirable ones. I know of no other book that is so effective at creating concepts and vocabulary for conveying emotions and moods. Use your imagination of check back for our “Feelings Adventure”
